New Book: "How Can the Future Be a Success?"

Today, our new book “How Can the Future Be a Success” was published on bilingual-picturebooks.org. You can already read it in 11 different languages ( Arabic, Chinese (traditional Mandarin), English, Farsi, French, Finnish, German, Greek, Portuguese (Brazilian), Portuguese (European), Spanish, Turkish, and Ukranian)! The book is a collection stories about people who are changing the world for the better today. Children from Iran, Turkey and Germany interviewed local idols and asked them what they were doing to make the world a better place. The stories they captured reach from protecting and planting forests to advocating for children’s rights. Sadly, there was not enough room to incorporate all the wonderful interviews which children sent to us in the final book. Still, we do not want these stories to be lost, therefore you can read all the stories that did not make it into the book in the following. Maybe, while reading you will notice that you also know someone who is changing the world in some small way. Why not you ask them about it?

In this picture Damla Ela Sarıçam shows us how the world could become more beautiful if we recycled our trash.

Ala Bade Timur from Turkey interviewed a member of the nef-association, which fights for education, disadvantaged groups, nature, and the development of cities. Their hope is that by helping others one’s own life can become more fulfilled.

Eti Levi has a similar feeling about their work. She was interviewed by Bettina Hulli from Turkey. Levi’s goal is to protect the lakes by educating people to act more responsibly. She says this work makes her feel happy. In the picture Bettina asks Eti if it would be alright for her to answer some questions (to which Eti of course answers yes).

“As children are going to inherit this world from us, we want to teach them to program”, Gülay Ciragioglu says. Even if the children do not use programming skills in their jobs later on, the skills they acquire can help to choose electronic devices wisely. In the picture you can see Gülay with Tanem Demirekler from Turkey who conducted the interview.

Diğdem Soyaltın Colella, a member of the Transparency association, makes sure that politicians spend the money they collect through taxes on important work, such as supplying electricity and water. Arda Batu Kürüm from Turkey interviewed Diğdem about this. Diğdem also gives lessons to young people to teach them about corruption. The picture shows Arda and Diğdem sitting on the sofa with the cat during their interview.

Pelin Karakuş makes sure that people’s teeth are healthy. Adel Karakuş met him in his home in Turkey. Pelin told Adel that his work makes him feel excited.

Selma Durak is part of the Turkish Women Association. Ahmet Okan Durak from Turkey talked to her about her work. He found out that the association gives out scholarships to support girls’ education and advocates for more women and girls to be involved in politics. In the picture you can see Ahmet and Selma during the interview.

In her store there is no plastic I sight. Wiebke Euler runs a store in which people can bring their own containers to buy food and washing products. She told Charlotte, Theo, and Feline from Germany that living sustainably can be difficult, so it is best to start with small steps. For example, one could buy some nuts at her store before completing one’s entire shopping there.

Sibel Erenel wants every child to grow up without violence. Therefore, she volunteers for the Yöret Foundation providing psychosocial support to children and families. Can Çıldır from Turkey asked her what her biggest hope was, and she answered that by working together we can overcome the problems and create a beautiful future, a peaceful society, and a safe environment for children. Can’s pictures show how we can achieve a society without violence.

Gerhard Moser’s farm is completely eco-friendly. His energy comes from the power of the wind and even his cows are held in a more sustainable way.  Charlotte, Theo, and Feline from Germany met him and asked, how it feels to have this kind of farm. He answered that at times it was exhausting but it often made him feel very proud.

Alisa Ertan from Turkey interviewed Zeyneb Boneval the founder of Travel therapy. Zeynebs mission is to teach others about different cultures and people and how to travel sustainably. She shares her own experiences in her stories, presentations and photographs. Alina drew a picture of one of these travels.

We hope that all these though-provoking stories have inspired you to start thinking about the future yourself. Are you doing something to make the world a better place? Do you know someone who is?
