Who are we?

Die Bücherpiraten (book pirates) captivate children and get them interested in books.
We are a charitable organization and have set ourselves the goal of enabling children and young people to experience literature creatively and independently. Our projects are aimed at children and young people between the ages of 3 and 19. Literature festivals, reading, writing and acting groups: our children’s literature center in the old town of Lübeck, Germany, is home to all. Our Story-Seeker project has spread to hundreds of different preschool nurseries.
The association is solely financed through private donations. If you would like to donate, you can do so here.
If you would like to find out more, simply visit our website at www.buecherpiraten.de or pay us a visit in the children’s literature center.

I would like to provide a voluntary translation.

We always welcome assistance in translating books into even more languages.

We are always on the lookout for native speakers to translate and proofread stories.

First of all, we always have a book translated by professional translators into six base languages: Arabic, English, French, Mandarin, Russian and Spanish.

The next part is where we need your help. This is where your voluntary translations come into play.

Please use one of these versions or the original for your translations. We want to make sure that small inaccuracies do not turn into major errors through the translation process.

All translations are confirmed by a second native speaker before being published. We also need volunteers for this process, too. As a proofreader, you ensure that the translated story is true to the content and style of the original and you correct any typos and spelling and punctuation errors.

It may be the case that a particular book is already being translated into your native language. Send us an e-mail to let us know in which language you would like to help us.
