Our recommendations for International Children's Book Day

Tomorrow on the 2nd of April, the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen, the International Children's Book Day takes place. Reading promoters around the world are organising various activities to mark the occasion.

We would therefore like to recommend two videos to you today. They do not come directly from us, but from our cooperation partners, who have recorded and published bilingual readings with the bilingual picture books on our website www.bilingual-picturebooks.org.
Following the links you will find on the one hand a multilingual reading by the "Fachstelle interkulturelle Öffnung Jena" of "The little Us" "Das kleine Wir" (in German, Italian, Russian and Bavarian). On the other hand here is the link to a bilingual reading from "Chocolate Cake in Hawaii" "Schokokuchen auf Hawaii" (in German and Dari) by the "Caritas Worms".
We are delighted that the books on our website are being used in this way and reaching many people who otherwise would not have access to bilingual picture books.

And please don't be alarmed: The picture that accompanies the posting is already a few years old. It's from the first press conference for bilingual-picturebooks.org, at which we read Chocolate Cake in Hawaii in eleven languages.

Finally, we have a third recommendation for tomorrow: The motto of this year's International Children's Book Day is "The Music of Words". We would like to recommend our book "The Flaming Fox". You can download the story for free in 22 different languages here.
For each language there is a matching audio version including the enchanting soundtrack to the story. The texts, pictures and music were created by the children and youths from the House of the Book Pirates.

So have a look, read and listen to our version of the "Music of Words".
